Robert L. Bankston

AIKEN, SC – ROBERT LEE BANKSTON of Aiken, SC, died March 5, 2016. Born January 7, 1935 in Birmingham, AL, Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Preston T. and Ida Lee, four brothers, Talmadge, Byron, Charles and William and a son, Robert Scott. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kathy, three children and their spouses, Denise Barrera (Rich Reinhardt), Curtis Bankston (Karen), Sheryl Black (David), three step-children and their spouses, Debra Cavazos (Dave), Dana Chipman (Karen) and Kevin Chipman (Reneé), a number of grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, including one born a couple of hours before he died. Robert served in the Air Force during the Korean War and graduated from the University of Alabama. He worked for the Department of Labor in Louisiana before moving to Aiken, SC. The family will receive friends Saturday, May 14th at Trinity United Methodist Church, 2724 Whiskey Rd., Aiken, SC 29803 from 5 until 6 PM followed by a memorial service at 6 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church or to a favorite charity.
