Reba Reynolds Courtney

AIKEN – Mrs. Reba Reynolds Courtney, 96, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday at St. John's United Methodist Church with the Reverend Dr. Tim McClendon officiating. The family will receive friends in Ward Hall following the service, and a private interment will be held in Bethany Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eric Courtney, Scott Courtney, Stuart Courtney, Steven Carroll, Karen Hooper and Erin Carroll. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. Mrs. Courtney was born in Jacksonboro, SC, a daughter of the late Walter Robert and Mary Garvin Reynolds. She had been a resident of Aiken since 1949, and taught for over 30 years at Millbrook Elementary School. As a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, she was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class, and the Jones Hooten Circle. She is survived by two sons, Marion Walter (Carmen) Courtney, Sandy, UT, Wayne Reynolds (Gayle) Courtney, Summerville, SC; grandchildren, Eric Lawrence Courtney, Karen Denise Hooper, Scott Evans Courtney, Erin Courtney Carroll, Stuart Lofton Courtney; great grandchildren, Sarah Henderson, Lauren Courtney, Bronwyn Courtney, Stephen Courtney, Sean Courtney, Emerson Courtney, Evan Courtney, Elizabeth Carroll., Reynolds Courtney, James Tracey Courtney; great-great grandchildren, Couper Henderson and Harlow Henderson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Marion Izlar Courtney.
