Mr. James "Jimmy" Berry Bishop, 68, died Sunday, May 10, 2009, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Rodney K. Powell officiating. Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Greg Hightower, Rick Wells, Richard Ellis, Fred Hope, Fred Beal and Roger Jackson.
Mr. Bishop was born in Fairfax, a son of Marie Elizabeth Halford Bishop of Aiken and the late Norman Lesney Bishop. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a resident of Aiken for more than 38 years. He retired from Bell South after more than 30 years of service as a technician. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his beloved wife, Betty Ann Hope Bishop; a daughter, Terry Shaw (Fred) Beal of Helena, Mont.; a son, J. Byron (Laurie) Bishop of Holly Springs, N.C.; grandchildren, Bronwyn and Arden Bishop and Brandon Shaw; sisters, Marilyn Walker of Atlanta, Barbara (Richard) Ellis of Spring Hope, N.C.; brother, George (Myona) Bishop of Garner, N.C.
