Lloyd William Ice

AIKEN – Mr. Lloyd William Ice, 89, passed away Friday, April 15, 2016. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, April 20 at South Aiken Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Dr. Christopher Crotwell, the Reverend Erin Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at the church. Pallbearers will be John Waters, William Waters, Jimmy Bunch. Mr. Ice was born in Pottsville, PA, a son of the late Lloyd George Ice and Ruth Dodd Ice. He served in the US Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II. A resident of Aiken since 1954, he worked as a technical writer at SRS, and retired in 1993. Mr. Ice was a dedicated member of South Aiken Presbyterian Church, having been an Elder and one of the first members. He volunteered with The Gideons, Habitat for Humanity and Meals on Wheels. He loved to travel, time at the beach, and also had an interest in photography. He is survived by his daughters, Peggy (John) Waters, Lexington, SC, Cathy I. Cameron, Asheville, NC; a son, David Ice, AIken; grandchildren, John Waters, William Waters, Megan Cameron Sampson, Michelle Cameron Schell; great grandchildren, Cameron and Kinsley Sampson; a sister, Esther Klair, Longmont, FL. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Cooper Ice, son in law, Jared Cameron, and sister, Helen Ice. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to South Aiken Presbyterian Church, 1711 Whiskey Rd., Aiken, SC 29803, or a charity of one’s choice. SHELLHOUSE-RIVERS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 715 E.
