AIKEN – Daniel “D.J” Hogan, Jr., 89, died Sunday, May 10, 2009.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday at Glenmora Baptist Church, Glenmora, LA, with the Reverend Major C. Speights officiating. Interment will follow in Camp Ground Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Trey Brown, Burt Starks, Mac Jerry, Josh Rocket, Rob Stoppleworth and Justin Stoppleworth. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Glenmora Baptist Church.
Mr. Hogan was born in Port Arthur, TX, a son of the late Daniel Jasper and Alvonia White Hogan. Before moving back to Aiken four months ago, he was a resident of Glenmora, LA, where he retired in 1980. He was a boilermaker. He worked at the Savannah River Plant for 13 years. There, he was a superintendent of the Boilermakers and Iron Workers. He was a Mason and a member of several churches in his lifetime, where he was a deacon, church treasurer, and Sunday School teacher. He also helped build the Aiken Teen Town in 1960.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 69 years, Maxine Germany Hogan; a daughter, Kathy (Carl) Brown, Aiken; two sons, Donald (Barbara) Hogan, Downsville, LA, and Ronald Hogan, Huntsville, AL; five grandchildren, Carie Hogan, Trey (Kelley) Brown, Tammy (Mac) Jerry, Melanie (Burt) Starks, Donna (Josh) Rocket, and Lily’s husband, Rob Stoppleworth; and was blessed with many great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Daniel Hogan, III, and a granddaughter, Lily Stoppleworth.
