Rudolph D. "R.D." Mundy

AIKEN, SC – RUDOLPH D. “R. D.” MUNDY, 93, beloved husband of Eloise Youngblood Mundy, died Sunday, June 26, 2016 at his residence following a brief illness. A native and lifelong resident of Aiken County, R. D. was a son of the late Ollie O. and Mae Cushman Mundy. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy in World War II and Korea. He enjoyed reminiscing and sharing about his naval experiences. R. D. retired from the United States Postal Service and was a member of Memorial Baptist Church. Survivors, in addition to his wife Eloise, include a daughter, Kathy Melcher (Sid), Aiken; a son, Kevin Mundy (Michael), Winston Salem, NC; two grandchildren, Taylor Melcher, Lacey Pruitt (Josh). In addition to his parents, R. D. was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Mundy and three brothers, Glenn Mundy, Wallace Mundy, and Donald Mundy. R.D was proud of his family and passionate about spending time with them. He always expressed his appreciation for the support and love from friends and family. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, June 28th from 6 until 8 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Wednesday morning, June 29th at 11 o’clock at Memorial Baptist Church with The Rev. Charles Jenkins officiating.
