AIKEN - Arthur “Calvin” Lee passed away on July 2 at his home in Aiken, SC. He was born April 15, 1930 at home, near Pinewood, SC. Arthur “Calvin” Lee was the son of the late Robert E. and Bertha Wise Lee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Joyce Wiggins Lee in 1997 and son Arthur Calvin Lee II in 1985. Also, five sisters: Bertie, Inez, Bonnie, Katherine, and Marie, and two brothers: Edward and Bill. Calvin is survived by his son Ritchie James Lee, and special friend of 13 years Marcia Stucky. He will be remembered by his five grandsons; Arthur Calvin Lee III, Steven Lee, Brandon Lee, Joshua Lee and Anthony Lee; and two granddaughters; Aimee Lee and Amanda Lee; two great-granddaughters: Raygane and Abigail Lee and one great-grandson Evan Lee. Calvin attended Berkley High School before enlisting in the Army Air Corps in 1947 and was stationed in Eglin, Florida. While at Eglin, Calvin was an outstanding baseball pitcher with the Eglin Eagles and his team competed at Mitchel Field in Long Island, NY Air Force tourney finals in 1949. The family moved to Aiken from North Charleston in 1978. Calvin retired from Beloit Manhattan after 41 years of service. He was a member of New Covenant Presbyterian Church in Aiken. His special interests were vegetable gardening, hunting, fishing, golfing, and watching the Gamecocks and Braves games on TV. He was an avid golfer and was a member at The Aiken Golf Club for many years. Visitation will be at the Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6-8 PM and a graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, July 6 in Carolina Memorial Gardens, North Charleston, SC.
