Mary Lou Stewart Wingard

AIKEN, SC – MARY LOU STEWART WINGARD, 82, died Monday, July 25, 2016 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers following a brief illness. A native of Broadway, NC, Mary Lou the youngest of 12 children to the late James Kendall and Mary Lou McPhail Stewart.  She earned her bachelor’s degree from East Carolina University and her master’s degree from UNC-Chapel Hill.  She taught school for 40 years in New Port News, VA, Hollywood, FL, Wilmington, NC and Turbeville, SC.  Mary Lou moved to Aiken in 2007 from Columbia, SC.  She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Survivors include her son, Mark Alan Stewart (Lisa Maroney), Aiken; a granddaughter, Stella Phoebe Stewart and a sister, Lovedia Stewart Snow, Gainesville, GA. The family will receive friends Friday morning, July 29th beginning at 10 o’clock at Trinity United Methodist Church followed by a memorial service at 11 o’clock.  The Rev. Lee Phillips will officiate.
