Mary M. "Polly" Jones

Mary Mayhugh “Polly” Jones Went home to be with the Lord early Wednesday morning, July 8, 2009. A funeral service will be held at Millbrook Baptist Church, Friday, July 10th at 10 a.m., with The Reverend Dr. Chris Masters officiating. Interment will take place at 2 PM Saturday in Hermitage Memorial Gardens, Old Hickory, TN. Honorary pallbearers will be the Millbrook Whittlers and the Lydia Sunday School Class. Mrs. Jones was born in Old Hickory, TN, a daughter of the late Roy and Opal Mayhugh. She moved to Aiken in 1952, and was retired from the Savannah River Plant where she worked as a secretary and librarian for 35 years. She was an avid golfer and member of Houndslake Country Club, the Houndslake Womens Golf Assoc., the Winnebago Travel Club, and Pink Ribbonettes. As a member of Millbrook Baptist Church, she was in the Lydia Sunday School Class, a member of the Jubilee Choir, and the 55 Plus Club. Survivors include her beloved husband of 57 years, Abner Douglas Jones; nephew Mark Darwin Mayhugh; niece, Audrey Renee Gralo; brother, Roy Terry Mayhugh, Clarksville, TN Memorials may be directed to the Millbrook Baptist Church Building Fund, 223 South Aiken Lane, Aiken, SC 29803.
