Maurine Johnson Grice

AIKEN, SC – MAURINE JOHNSON GRICE, 87, widow of James David Grice, Sr., died Monday, July 13, 2009 at University Hospital in Augusta. A native and lifelong resident of Aiken County, Mrs. Grice was a daughter of the late Lloyd and Bertha Barton Johnson. She was a homemaker and a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church and the Young at Heart Sunday School Class. Survivors include a daughter, Diane G. (Davis) Snipes, Aiken, a son, James D. (Shirley) Grice, Jr., Neeses, SC, eight grandchildren, Troy Snipes, Cindy Gleaton, Debby Turno, Christy Williams, Shelby Grice, Jamey Grice, Allen Thomas and Stacey Thomas and ten great-grandchildren, Kasey and Aaron Gleaton, Benjamin Snipes, Braydon, Triston and Maytland Williams, Cole Turno, Madison and Meredith Thomas and Kara Kenefick. The funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home, 715 East Pine Log Rd., Aiken, SC with The Rev.’s Ronnie Powell and Steven Drawdy officiating. Interment will follow in the historic Bethany Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kelly Woodward, David Seigler, Leon Scott, Larry Turner, Tim Gantt, Dave Golding and Sam Stevens. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of her Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Wednesday at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home.
