Aiken-Delilah Scroggins McComas Thornton, 94, died July 16. A private graveside service will be held at 4:00 PM July 19 at Aiken Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. George Howell officiating. She was born in Grant Co., KY to the late Perry and Myrtle Scroggins McComas. She moved to Aiken in 1951 from Clinton, TN. She was a homemaker and active member of St. Johns United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, bowling, her church, family and friends. She is survived by her children, Faye T. (Harold I) Holder, Salisbury, NC, Foley W. (Sharon W) Thornton, Morganton, NC and Rickie (Pamela B) Thornton, Aiken, SC. Other survivors include grandchildren, Timothy A. Bansavage, Rockwell, NC, Jacqueline B. Redd, Aiken, SC, Hollis Brown Thornton, Aiken, SC, P. Harley T. Davis, Columbia, SC, Dustin J.H. Thornton, Morganton, NC; great grandchild, David M. Redd, Aiken, SC; sisters, Leah M. Ryan, Reseda, CA, Ruby M. Zackerdonski, Garden Grove, CA and Emma Jean M. Bienick, Cincinnati, OH. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hollis B. Thornton,; sisters, Dorsey M. Smith, Beulah M. Kinman; brothers, Perry Bavis McComas, Timothy R. McComas, Nathan Amos McComas, Max McComas, James E. McComas, Buford McComas, and Charles M. McComas.
