Greensboro, NC - Richard “Dick” S. Thompson, 77, died Wednesday, October 19th after several years of declining health from a neurological disorder. He was preceded in death by Ellen, his wife of 41 years and is survived by his beloved sons Rick and Craig and their families as well as his dear friend, Shirley Bear. To paraphrase Jack London, he did not waste any of his days trying to have more days, he lived his life to the fullest. Following a long and good career with Blue Bell Inc., He enjoyed a second good career was with Montgomery Box Corporation for many years before he sold the company due to his declining health. Interment and a graveside service will be in Bethany Cemetery in Aiken, South Carolina on Sunday, October 23rd at 1PM where his wife Ellen was buried in 2001. The Rev. Dr. Henry L. Chennault will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro, 2500 Summit Ave. Greensboro, NC 27405. They are wonderful.
