AIKEN, SC - Mary Ellen Coster Randall, age 93, of Aiken passed away on November 5, 2016.
Born in Mooresville, IN, she was the daughter of Rees Coster and Grace Kincaid Coster.
Mrs. Randall, a retired elementary school teacher at Aiken Elementary, received her Masters from Columbia University, and her Bachelors from Indiana State Teachers College. She taught elementary school for more than thirty years in Indiana, New York City, and Aiken. She was a long-time member of the St. John’s United Methodist Church and Circle 3 within the church. She was a member of The Society of Indiana Pioneers, the Suburban Garden Club, Aiken School PTAs, Cub Scouts, and Girl Scouts.
She was married to Dr. Duncan Randall for 58 years before his death in 2005. They had four daughters, Dr. Lenore Frank (Bruce) of San Jose, CA; Ms. Esther Randall (Oliver Keels) of Berea, KY; Mrs. Cynthia Fuller (Gary) of Beech Island, SC; and Mrs. Judith DeGraffenried (John) of Trumbull, CT.; and one son, Mr. Eric Randall (Helen) of Aiken, SC.
Other survivors include 12 grandchildren: Robin Frank (Sarah), Dr. John Duncan Randall (Dana), Ellen R. Staniszewski (Kevin), Alexandra Keels Hinkle (Adam) , Oliver R. Keels, Eric J. Keels (Eliza), Grace F. McIntosh , Bethany Fuller, Nathanael Fuller (Sarah), Gabriel Fuller (Jennifer), Sarah Anna Williams (Brian), and J. J. DeGraffenried, as well as ten great-grandchildren including Duncan and Rooker Staniszewski; Carter and Sarah Randall; Isabel, Madeline, Sophia Mary Ellen, and Kathryn McIntosh; Samuel and Eli Williams. She is also survived by her sister Ruth Colclesser of Indianapolis, IN as well as three nephews: Richard Colclesser, David Coster, and Charles Coster.
Funeral services for Mrs. Randall will be held 1:30 pm November 13th at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Aiken followed by a reception in Ward Hall. Private interment by the family will be at the Southlawn Cemetery. Services will be conducted by The Rev Dr. Tim McClendon and Rev Nancy Reed. Pallbearers will be members of the family.
Memorials may be made to the Aiken County Public Library, 314 Chesterfield St., Aiken, SC 29801 (in remembrance of the old Aiken Elementary School). Special thanks to Hitchcock Place, Tidewater Hospice, and Anchor Rehab and Nursing Home for the loving care each provided.
