H. Bernhardt "Bud" Baranek

AIKEN, SC – HELMUT BERNHARDT “BUD” BARANEK, 80, beloved husband of Joan Winifred Charette Baranek, died Sunday, July 26, 2009 at his residence. A native of Bethlehem, PA, Mr. Baranek was son of the late Gustav and Lena Marie Nadler Baranek. He graduated from Seton Hall University and was retired from NJ Public Service Electric and Gas as a mechanical engineer with Salem Nuclear Generating Station. He and his beloved wife Joan had moved to Aiken, SC two years ago from Mantua, NJ. In addition to his wife Joan, with whom he was married for 59 years, Bud is survived by a daughter, Belinda Baranek, Aiken, SC, two sons, Gregory Mark (Mary) Baranek, Aiken, SC and Douglas Matthew (Sue) Baranek, Helena, MT, five grandchildren, Cynthia, Rachel, Leah, Brenton and Scott, a great-grandson, Ian, two sisters, Martha Johnson, Burton, WV and Virginia (Joseph) Stora, Roselle Park, NJ and a brother, Martin (Donna) Baranek, Sunbury, OH. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 PM Thursday at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home, 715 East Pine Log Rd., Aiken, SC. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM with The Rev. Fr. Jeffrey S. Kirby officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.
