AIKEN, SC -- FRANK WHITECOTTON, 72, beloved husband of Amanda Herron Whitecotton, died suddenly, Friday, July 31, 2009 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. A native of Branch Hill, OH, Frank was a son of the late Frank A. and Charlotte Andrews Whitecotton, Sr. He was a veteran of both the US Army and Air Force. He was a retired Detective with the City of Aiken Police Department where he worked for 20 years. He opened and managed Teen Town for the City of Aiken in the 1970’s. Frank was a former commissioner with the South Carolina Boxing Commission, and was also formerly an active promoter of motorcycle racing. He was currently working at AutoZone. He attended Central Baptist Church. Survivors, in addition to his wife, Amanda, include a daughter, Heather (David) Edl, two grandchildren, Kyle and Caleb Edl, all of Aiken, a sister, Elaine (Bill) Nelson, Hamilton, OH, and a brother, Ken (Myrna) Whitecotton, Creeden, KY. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Connor Edl and a brother, Gary Lee Whitecotton. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home, 715 East Pine Log Rd., Aiken, SC, with Rev. Darrell Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens. Active and Honorary Pallbearers will be Aiken Department of Public Safety. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
