D. C. "Red" Guyton

December 26, 1926 — December 19, 2016

AIKEN, SC – D. C. “RED” GUYTON, 89, died Monday, December 19, 2016 at Veterans Victory House, Walterboro, SC. A native of Council, NC, Red was a son of the late Dorma Caraway and Evelyn Clark Guyton. He graduated from Birmingham Southern College and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired from the Savannah River Plant as a chief supervisor. Red was a member of Millbrook Baptist Church where he was Deacon Emeritus. Survivors include his wife, Judith Sims Guyton; his daughter, Betsy Ann Manke, Aiken; a step-son, Allen Baxley (Kim), North Augusta; three grandchildren, Kenneth Manke, Cherie Bright, Daniel Guyton; two step-grandchildren, Parker Baxley, Ann Elise Baxley; a great-grandson, Curtis Pitts; a step-grandson, Chad Scott. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine George Guyton and his son, David George “Rusty” Guyton. The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon, December 22nd beginning at 1 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home, followed by the funeral at 2 o’clock. The Rev. Chris Masters will officiate. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery with military honors.
