NORTH AUGUSTA, SC -- WANDA MOCK PADGETTE, 49, of North Augusta, died August 8, 2009 at MCG Health in Augusta, GA.
A daughter of Powell G. Mock and the late Leatha Woodberry Mock, Wanda was born January 1, 1960 and grew up in Aiken.
Wanda was a medical miracle many times over in her life, and had the spirit of a true child of God. Having spent much of her life in hospitals, she became a pediatric nurse. Though disabled, she continued to work part-time as a consumer advocate at Walton Options in Augusta.
The family is grateful to the late Dr. Eugene McManus, who was Wanda’s pediatrician, and then later her co-worker. Also Dr. Muralidharan Jagadeesan of MCG Health, who Wanda loved and trusted. Also the family would like to thank the wonderful neurologists, nurses and staff at MCG for the respectful care they provided to Wanda in her final days.
Survivors include her father, Powell (Margaret) Mock of Aiken, her children, Christian Padgette and Chelsea Padgette, both of the home. Two sisters, Vicki Reiney and Kelli Cagle both of Aiken, nieces, Erin Reiney, Baltimore, MD, and Cassie (Chris) Barnhill, Aiken, nephews, Alex Reiney, Columbia, SC and Mike Reiney, Aiken, and a great-niece, Kayley Barnhill, Aiken.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 4:00 PM at Christian Heritage Church in Graniteville with The Rev. Stephen Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in Montmorenci First Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home, 715 East Pine Log Rd., Aiken, SC.
