AIKEN, SC - Mrs. Andrea Yaeger Rush, 70, loving wife of LTC James A. Rush USA Retired, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017. Andrea "Ahni" was born in Buffalo, NY, a daughter of the late Charles Yaeger and Virginia May Yaeger. She was an educator and her illustrious teaching career spanned just over 26 years, initially as a primary classroom teacher and then as a reading specialist until her retirement. She taught in Brighton, NY (2 yrs), Milwaukee, WI (2yrs) and was hired by the Department of Defense Dependent Schools for positions in Augsburg, Germany (2yrs) and finishing her career in Vilseck, Germany (20 yrs). Ahni had an immense love of books and a greater love for helping children. She was a member of the Jewish Temple in Aiken and had been a resident of the area since late 2006. In addition to her husband of 44 years, Ahni is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Ann Rush, Columbus, Ohio; James W (Stacy) Rush, Bath, England; grandchildren, Aiden Rush and Olivia Rush; sisters, Malcah (Moshe) Yaeger-Dror, Tucson, AZ; and Beth (Paul) Resnick, Hagerstown, MD; and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends came first in Ahni's life. She will be sorely missed by all. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Fisher House Foundation, 111 Rockville Pike, Suite 420, Rockville, MD 20850 or the Golden Harvest Food Bank, 81 Capital Dr, Aiken, SC 29803. A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Shellhouse Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service.
