Bernice Spillers Overman

FAYETTEVILLE, NC – Mrs. Bernice Spillers Overman, 92, died Wednesday, January 18, 2017 in Fayetteville, NC. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, January 21, 2017 at First Baptist Church, Aiken, SC, with the Reverend Cathy Cole officiating.  The family will receive friends in the church parlor following the service.  A private interment will be held in Aiken Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Overman was born in Calhoun, LA, daughter of the late George Spillers and Melba Barnes Spillers.  She was married to the late Robert F. (Bob) Overman for 69 years.  She served as a member of the United States Cadet Nurse Corps during World War II and was a member of First Baptist Church in Aiken, where she served as nursery director for many years. She and her husband were lay volunteers with Wycliffe Bible Translators and the Southern Baptist Convention in countries around the world.  They also served with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Survivors include her daughters, Susan O. McGann, Fayetteville, NC; Nancy (David) McNiel, Houston, TX; a son, Glen (Vaughan) Overman, Greer, SC; grandchildren, Erin (Brian) Kiser, Sean (Beth) McGann, Ryan McGann, Nancy (Mike) Touhill, Frank Landers, Ben Landers; great grandchildren, Cole Kiser, Amos Kiser, Elyse Kiser, Henry Touhill, Gavin McGann, Annabella McGann; sister, Lynn Futrell; brothers, George Spillers, Kenneth Spillers, W.A.
