June Thompson Caskey

SENECA, SC - Mrs. June Kathleen Thompson Caskey, 89, passed away Friday, January 20, 2017. Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, January 28, 2017 at historic Bethany Cemetery with the Reverend Dr. W. Timothy McClendon officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Mrs. Caskey was the devoted wife of George R. Caskey Jr., who predeceased her in death after more than 60 years of marriage. She was born in Roanoke, VA to the late Charles David and Sarah Blanche Richardson Thompson. She attended Mary Washington College, as well as Whitney School of Art in New Haven, Connecticut. Mrs. Caskey was an accomplished artist who painted iconic scenes of Aiken such the Hitchcock Woods, as well as scenes from travels with her husband, and childhood memories. She was a member of the Colonial Dames, Daughters of the American Revolution and United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was a member of various book clubs through her years in Aiken, and played on various tennis leagues. She is survived by her son, George R. Caskey III, West Union, SC, and her daughter, Sarah (James) Caskey Smith, New Orleans, LA, and two grandchildren, Sarah Emily Smith and James E.
