George Michael Counts, Sr.

AIKEN – George Michael Counts, Sr., 81, loving husband of Lois Cromer Counts, beloved father of the late George Michael Counts, Jr., and beloved father in law of the late Cynthia Marsh Counts, passed away Friday, February 3, 2017. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Cedar Creek Church, Banks Mill Campus, and the funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM with Reverend Lee Phillips and Reverend Phillip Lee officiating.  Interment will be held at 12:30 PM on Thursday, February 9 in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Mr. Counts was born in Little Mountain, SC, a son of the late Walter Horace Counts and Margaret Ruth Derrick Counts.  He had been a resident of Aiken for 57 years, and worked as a Health Physicist at the Savannah River Plant.  He also served in the US Air National Guard. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Counts (Victor) Darrow, Suwanee, GA; granddaughter, Katelyn Counts (Corey) Callahan, Greenville, SC; grandson, Jared Darrow, Suwanee, GA; sister, Faye (Gerald) Stoudemire, Little Mountain, SC.
