COUCHTON, SC – LEE GAULT STAPLETON, 91, widow of George Mitchell Stapleton, Jr., passed away Monday, February 20, 2017 at Harbor Chase of Aiken. A native of Union, SC, Lee was a daughter of the late J. B. and Mary Sanders Gault. She lived in Aiken since 1950 and was a long-time librarian with the ABBE Regional Library and will be remembered for driving the Bookmobile. She was a member of Couchton Baptist Church and she loved to quilt and work in her yard. Survivors include two daughters, Pam Wilhite (Bobby), Donna Youngblood; a son, Michael Terry Stapleton, all of Couchton; ten grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ray Gault, Anderson, SC. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Rickky Donald Stapleton, Sr.; a daughter-in-law, Linda Stapleton; and a son-in-law, Mike Youngblood. The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon, February 23rd at Couchton Baptist Church beginning at 1 o’clock. The funeral service will follow at 2 o’clock with The Rev. Jimmy White officiating. Entombment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Shawn Allen, Cameron Allen, Mitchell Stapleton, Luke Youngblood, Jake Youngblood, Ricky Stapleton, Jr., Brad Briatico and Braden Briatico.
