AIKEN, SC – RAY BLAYLOCK, 88, beloved husband of Mary Lou “Tootsie” Taylor Blaylock, died peacefully Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at his home. Born August 22, 1928 in Mantachie, MS, Ray was a son of the late Dillard and Mertie White Blaylock. He was a graduate of Itawamba College, served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of Aiken Masonic Lodge 156. He retired from DuPont at the Savannah River Site after over 33 years of service. He was a member of South Aiken Baptist Church and was an avid golfer and fisherman. Affectionately known as “PaPa”, Ray is survived by his wife “Tootsie”; son, Jeff (Nancy) Blaylock; daughters, Vickie (Joe) Lowe, Patti (Bryan) Womack, Toni (Pete) Keeling; grandchildren, Daniel Blaylock, Nathan Lowe, Nolan (Elaine) Lowe, Hope (Preston) Bledsoe, Jason (Kayla) Womack, Brook (Karl) Goodhew; six great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Friday afternoon, February 24th beginning at 4 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home followed by a Celebration of Ray’s Life at 5 o’clock at the funeral home. The Rev. Michael Dyer will officiate. Private interment will take place Saturday afternoon at Sunset Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Daniel Blaylock, Nathan Lowe, Nolan Lowe, Jason Womack, Dominic Bledsoe. Memorial contributions may be directed to South Aiken Baptist Church, 980 Dougherty Road, Aiken, SC 29803.
