Robert Ransey Toole, 61, loving husband of Lisa Michelle Sommer Toole, passed away Friday, February 24, 2017. Robert was born on April 20, 1955, in Aiken, South Carolina, the son of Gasper Loren Toole III (Ren) and the late Mary Durban Toole. Growing up in Aiken, Robert attended Mead Hall Episcopal School and Aiken High School. A graduate of the University of South Carolina with a degree in Business Administration, he received his CPA license in 1987. He moved to Atlanta to pursue a career in finance and became Vice President of MSI International. There he met the love of his life, Lisa Sommer. They moved to Aiken in 1995 and began a family. He was a dedicated employee at Boral Bricks in Augusta, Georgia, where he was Financial Manager for over 20 years. Robert was a talented musician and loved to refurbish vintage musical equipment. He was also an enthusiastic hiker and enjoyed hiking the Appalachian Trail. He loved to share his passion for both music and hiking with his beloved daughter Sydney. He was a dedicated supporter of Mead Hall and St. Thaddeus Church. Survivors include his loving wife, Lisa Michelle; daughter, Sydney Nicole; father, Gasper Loren Toole III (Doris) of Aiken; sister, Mary Diane Miller (Charles) of Aiken; and brother, Gasper Loren Toole IV (Ellen) of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Funeral services will be at 2:30 pm on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church with Father Grant Wiseman officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Stevenson-McClelland Building following the interment. Pallbearers will be Charles Miller, Bob Holmes, Chris Smith, Marty Bell, Kenneth Fisher, and Frampton W. Toole III. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Boral Bricks, Bill Bentley, and Alex Bell. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Mead Hall Episcopal School, St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church, or the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University, DUMC Box 3624, Durham, North Carolina 27710.
