AIKEN, SC – ROBERT A. “BOB” BORNEMAN, 89, died Tuesday, March 7, 2017 of dementia, surrounded by family and friends. A native of Flushing, NY, Bob was a son of the late Alfred and Agnes Borneman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and Seabees, serving in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. Bob worked for many years in New York as a vice president for Citibank as construction manager. He was in charge of construction of the Citibank building in New York and the Citicorp building on Long Island. Bob was a competitive sailor and was a 29 year member and former Commodore of the Center Port Yacht Club. He and Barbara moved to Aiken 13 years ago. He was a member of Woodside Plantation Country Club and St. John’s United Methodist Church. Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Barbara; his daughter, Denise Borneman, Westerly, RI and his two cats, Danny and Tommy. A memorial service will be held Saturday afternoon at 1 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home with The Rev. Nancy Reed officiating.
