AIKEN, SC – THE REV. EDWARD EUGENE KEMPER, 85, beloved husband of Dorothy Mae Smith Kemper, died Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. A native of Old Hickory, TN, Ed was a son of the late Edward Carmack and Lila Loreen Medley Kenper. He was a member of the National Guard and served in Korea. He lived in the Couchton Community in Aiken County since 1956 and retired from DuPont at the Savannah River Plant. He was a charter member of Couchton Baptist Church and retired after 20 years as the pastor of Green Pond Baptist Church. He was currently a member of Millbrook Baptist Church. Surviving, in addition to his wife of 63 years, Dorothy, two daughters, Malinda Proffitt (Ben), Johnson City, TN, Dixie Jean Cushman (Charles), Aiken; a son, Hayden Edward Kemper (Charlene), Dothan, AL; nine grandchildren, Rebecca Proffitt, Sarah Sieben, Seth Proffitt, Nathan Proffitt, Eddie Cushman, Josh Cushman, Rachel Cushman, Caleb Kemper, Calah Edstrom; four great-grandchildren, Dora Stump, Maomi Stump, Grethen Sieben, Lyla Sieben. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Philip Ronald Kemper. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon, March 26th beginning at 2 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home followed by the funeral service at 3 o’clock.
