Frances Hancock Dunn

AIKEN, SC – Mrs. Frances Hancock Dunn, 89, died peacefully Wednesday, September 16, 2009, at Heritage Healthcare at Mattie C. Hall. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at St. John’s United Methodist Church. Reverend Dr. George K. Howle and Reverend Keith Stewart will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service in the church parlor. Interment will take place on September 26, 1:00 p.m., in Scottsville, KY. Mrs. Dunn was born in Scottsville, KY, a daughter of the late Ewing H. and Maude Alexander Hancock. She was a resident of Gallatin, TN, for 52 years, and moved to Aiken in 1990. She was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, Katie Williams Sunday School Class, and United Methodist Women. Survivors include her daughter, Diane D. (Thomas) Miniard, Aiken; son, Robert E. (Sandra) Dunn, Jr., Aiken; grandchildren, Jane Ellen (Frank) Hudson, Abingdon, VA; Susan Frances (Gordon) Whitener, Knoxville, TN; Alan Miniard, Jr., Cary, NC; Davis Miniard, Aiken; Jake Miniard, Aiken; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Dunn, Sr.; a grandchild, James Alexander Dunn; and eleven brothers and sisters.
