Jerry Earl Sides

AIKEN – Mr. Jerry Earl Sides, 73, died Saturday, October 24, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday in the Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Charles Rector and the Reverend Mike Sides will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Jim Hanna, Brent Wade, David Sides, Brian Sides, Bill Brickhouse, Steve Eubanks, Chris Johnson, and Joey Tavel. Mr. Sides was born in Nauvoo, AL, a son of the late Charles Eugene and Eunice Leonard Sides. A graduate of Auburn University, he had been a resident of Aiken since 1954, and was a mechanical engineer at the Savannah River Plant for E.I. DuPont. He was a member of Briarwood Baptist Church and loved following the Auburn Tigers. Survivors include his daughter, Lynn (Charles) Snavely, Aiken; two sons, Mike (Allyson) Sides, Doug (Debbie) Sides, both of Aiken; eight grandchildren, Amanda Watson, Ashley Watson, Matthew Sides, Kyle Sides, Bill Sides, Brooke Sides, Brandon Sides and Bailey Snavely; two sisters, Linda Saucier, Cleveland, AL, Nancy West, Aiken; two brothers, Charles E. Sides, Jr., Fred Sides, both of Aiken. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Faye Bane Sides.
