William Thomas Basnight

AIKEN, SC -- WILLIAM THOMAS "BILL" BASNIGHT, 76, beloved husband of Jeannette Rodgers Basnight, died Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. Bill was born November 16, 1932 in Princess County, VA to William Thomas, and Mary Lee Lane Basnight, Sr.. He grew up in Elizabeth City, NC and was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from the textile industry and had lived in Aiken since 1995. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and a friend to everyone. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:00 PM at Shellhouse Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Good Hope Lutheran Church Cemetery in Saluda County. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren and honorary pallbearers will be employees of Triangle Dodge. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday at the funeral home. Survivors, in addition to his wife Jeannette, include four daughters; Trina (Stabler) Inabinete, Orangeburg, Kelly (Brian) Rae, Columbia, Kristy Basenight, Augusta and Katey Perkins, Batesburg, four sons; Thomas Allen Basenight and his special friend, Rebecca, Morganton, NC, Christopher L. Basnight and his fiancé, Catherine, Aiken, Roger A. Padgett, Tampa, FL and Ronnie G. Padgett, Graniteville, 26 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a sister, Callie Lane, Knotts Island, NC. He was preceded in death by a sister and 3 brothers.
