AIKEN - Mr. Elmer Lowrie Wilson, 79, died January 26, 2010 at his home. Family members and close friends are invited to attend a graveside service at 2:00 PM Friday at Bethany Cemetery in Aiken. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 PM at St. John's United Methodist Church with the Reverend Dr. George K. Howle officiating. The family will receive friends in the church parlor after the service. Mr. Wilson was born in Augusta, GA, and grew up in Springfield, SC. He was a son of the late William Henry and Elma Coline Phillips Wilson. He was a graduate of Clemson University, and was an International Industrial Salesperson for Menardi-Criswell. A resident of Aiken since 1957, Mr. Wilson was a member of the LBC Lions Club, a Charter Member of the Quadrill Dance Club, a member of Highland Park Country Club, Houndslake Country Club, Woodside Country Club, an avid golfer and a faithful member of St. Johns United Methodist Church. He was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and a friend to all. Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Jo Breeland Wilson; daughter, Betsy Wilson (Mark) Mahoney, Aiken; son, Lowrie Rutherford (Amy) Wilson, Greenwood; four grandchildren, Marshall Mahoney, Lizzie Mahoney, Brandon Wilson, Davis Wilson; a nephew, Phillip Wilson, Seneca, SC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. William R.P. Wilson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Johns United Methodist Church, 104 Newberry St., Aiken, SC 29801, for a memorial item in the name of Elmer Wilson.
