AIKEN, SC - Mrs. Joan Marie Emerson Wyatt, 82, loving wife, mother and grandmother, died Saturday, January 30, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 6, 2010 at the Shellhouse Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend David Bobo Mullens, Jr. will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will be held at 11:00 am, Monday at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery. Mrs. Wyatt was born on May 25, 1927 in Anacortes, WA, the second-born daughter of the late Russell and Leah Madge Nichols Emerson. Joan Marie was raised in San Francisco and walked across the Golden Gate Bridge the day it opened with her sister and father, a WWI veteran. In 1952, Joan married SSGT Alan L. Wyatt USAF in San Francisco. Her life's labors included serving as a pastor's wife (retired PCA Pacific Northwest) with a gift of hospitality, working for Fred Meyer accounts receivable at the corporate headquarters in Portland, OR, launching and operating ARJA's Sweet Treats, an after-hours baking business serving Portland metropolitan area restaurants. Joan was a member of Evergreen Presbyterian Church in Beaverton, OR. Joan and Alan moved to Aiken in 2006 from Oregon City, OR. Joan Marie is remembered for her love for Jesus, devotion to her extended family, sense of humor, passion for cooking and financial stewardship. Wherever she went she was a friend and had many friends. She is survived by her beloved husband, Reverend Alan Lester Wyatt, Sr., three daughters, Angela Wyatt (Craig) Jarchow of Greenwich, CT; Rosalie Jeanne Wyatt of Fairfax County, VA; Judith Louise (David) Mullens of Tampico, Mexico; a son, Alan Lester (Judy) Wyatt, Jr. of Johns Creek, GA; seven grandchildren, Megan Elizabeth Jarchow, David W.B. Mullens, III, Caroline Keith Mullens, Charles Emerson Mullens, John Bradford Wyatt, Michael Alan Wyatt, William Thomas Wyatt, sister-in-law Marjorie Emerson of Montecito, CA, nieces, Joan Marie Williams, Judi Parten and Cara L. Emerson, nephews, David Enas, Russell Emerson and Bradford Emerson. Joan Marie Emerson Wyatt was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Mary Emerson Enas, and her brother, James Dillon Emerson.
