Aiken-Alice Pardue Yonce, 89, entered into rest at Mattie C. Hall on Friday, Feb. 12, 2010.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Lamar Yonce of forty seven years. She was the daughter of the late James Edgar and Alice Horne Pardue.
Alice was born Dec. 14, 1920, the youngest of four children. Due to her mother's death after childbirth, she was raised by an Aunt (Mama) and Uncle (Papa) in Augusta, GA. She grew up in both the Baptist and Methodist church, and became a member of the Baptist church during her adult life. She loved her family and loved sewing exquisite dresses for her girls. She made gorgeous quilts and crocheted many afghans. She was an avid shopper, camper, loved to fish and loved animals. While Alice devoted most of her life to her family, she worked for Graniteville Co. at different times.
Survivors include her loving daughters, Marsha (Ric) Daughenbaugh, Shelby, NC and Debra (Skip) Crowder, Aiken, SC. She is also survived by a beloved cousin, Vivian Whitfield, Brunswick, GA.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, Feb. 15 at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jack Weigle officiating. Interment will follow at Aiken Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Aiken SPCA, 401 Wire Rd., Aiken, SC 29801. The family would like to express their heart felt thanks to the loving care givers at Mattie C. Hall, United Hospice and the women of St. Johns United Methodist Church of Graniteville.
The family will receive friends Sunday, Feb. 14 from 3 to 5 at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home, 715 East Pine Log Rd., Aiken, SC.
