AIKEN, SC -- BOBBIE C. BLACKMON, 85, beloved wife of the late Gordon Gladstone Blackmon, Jr., died Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
A native of Commerce, TX, Mrs. Blackmon was a daughter of the late Hugh J. and Rossi Obenchain Clifton. She had lived in Aiken since 1955 and was a longtime member of St. John's United Methodist Church and UMW Circle #4. She was formerly employed by J. Rodney Weeks. Bobbie was an avid golfer, a volunteer with ACTS and a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Survivors include her son, Gordon G. (Robin) Blackmon III, Edgefield, SC, two grandsons, Gordon Gladstone Blackmon IV, Guam and Joseph Allen Blackmon, Groves, TX, a half-brother, Dale (Judy) Green, Ely, NV, a brother-in-law, Alan Blackmon, Greenville, SC, a niece, Dana (Fred) Funk, Pilot Point, TX and a nephew, Jim (Tricia) Cox, Sanger, TX. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Clifton Cox.
A memorial service will be held Monday at 11:00 AM at St. John's United Methodist Church, with The Rev. Dr. George K. Howle officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in Ward Hall.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of UMW Circle #4 and Telephone Pioneers of America.
