Russell Lee McClellan

AIKEN - Mr. Russell Lee McClellan, 84, died March 1, 2010 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday at First Baptist Church of Jackson. Interment with military honors will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Wednesday evening at First Baptist Church, Jackson, and one hour prior to the service at the church. McClellan was born in Pierson, FL, a son of the late Adam Milton and Stella Herring McClellan. He served in the US Marine Corps during WWII. He was a resident of the Aiken area for 6 years, having moved from Lincolnton, GA. He was a Mason, and a member of the Eastern Star in Lincolnton and Jackson. He worked as a security patrolman at the Savannah River Plant. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lorraine Varnadoe McClellan; a daughter, Vicki M. Leonard, Aiken; a son, Larry V. (Kathy) McClellan, Jackson; six grandchildren, Kelly (Scott) Dimeler, Terisa (Bobby) Fugate, Selena (John) Swearingen, Rusty (Carly) McClellan, Stephanie (Anthony) Barton, Vaughn McClellan; 15 great grandchildren, Gabriel Sistare, Caleb Sistare, Noah Sistare, Erin Dimeler, Hannah Dimeler, Justin Leonard, Caitlyn Fugate, Colton Fugate, Aubreyanna Swearingen, Makenzie Swearingen, Cameron Swearingen, Tatum Swearingen, Rayne Barton, A.J. Barton, Sterling Barton; two sisters in law, Novella McClellan, Cobb Town, GA, Sylva McClellan, Lakeland, FL. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl and A.M.
