Rev. Loman Foster Fish

December 25, 1927 — March 4, 2010

AIKEN, SC -- Loman Foster Fish, 82, retired United Methodist minister, died March 4, 2010 at his residence, HarborChase of Aiken, where he has lived for the last 3 ½ years. A native of Sherrodsville, Ohio, Loman was married to Ilene (Muzzy) Fish for 56 years prior to her death in 2005. He was a graduate of Asbury College and attended Asbury Theological Seminary in preparation to serve in ministry for 42 years prior to his retirement. Loman served churches in Pittsburg, Tuscola and Arbela, MI; Burgin, Mt. Olivet and Nicholasville, KY; and Amsterdam-Simmons Ridge, Bergholz-Mt. Zion-Chestnut Ridge, Hopedale-Bethel, Mt. Carmel-Pleasant Ridge, McDonald, Bridgeport 1st and West, OH. He continued in ministry after retirement through relationship with neighbors and friends. In Aiken, he was an active member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, where he informally served as a mentor/friend to the senior minister, the associates and other ministers in preparation. Survivors include 6 children: Diane (David) Mercado of Cincinnati; OH, Dennis (Kathy) Fish of Aiken, SC; Duane (Cindy) Fish of Newington, CT; Delores Fish of Aiken, SC; Daryl (Julie) Fish of Spencer, WI; and Darla (David) Scott of Mishawaka, IN. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren: Derek Mercado, Darlene (Jake) Kuykendall, Deana Mercado, Douglas Mercado, Chad Fish, Kellie Fish, Christina Fish, Brian Fish, Michael Krueger, Robert Krueger, Gallant Fish, Lannea Fish, Elijah Fish, Nathan Scott and Keith Scott. A memorial service will be held at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Aiken, SC on Saturday March 6, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Leavittsville United Methodist Church, Leavittsville, OH on Monday March 8, 2010 with internment to follow at Leavittsville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the St. John’s UMC Seminary Scholarship Fund in support of seminary expenses for ministerial candidates from St. John’s.
