Lucille Key Porter

AIKEN, SC -- LUCILLE KEY PORTER, 84, widow of Ancil M. Porter, died Monday, March 29, 2010. A native and lifelong resident of Aiken County, Lucille was the daughter of the late Jessie and Viola Key. She began her career as a teller at Farmers and Merchants Bank and 35 years later retired from C & S Bank. Mrs. Porter was a faithful member of Talatha Baptist Church where she served as assistant treasurer and Sunday School teacher and was a member of the choir. She was also active in the WMU. Always faithful to her family, she enjoyed cooking and family get togethers, camping and reading. Survivors include two daughters; Sandra Widener, New Ellenton and Ruth (Kenneth) Martin, Aiken, two sons; Myers (Donna) Porter, Augusta, and John (Kathy) Porter, Aiken, eight grandchildren; Annah Wall, Carmen Maguire, Phillip Weeks, Ashley Martin, Stacey Weeks, Dana Ford and Chris and Kevin VanRiper, seven great-grandchildren; Madeline, Chloe and Drew Wall, Sophie Maguire, Nickolas and Marissa Weeks and Hayden Ford, two sisters; Elizabeth Coats, New Ellenton and Jessie Ford, New Ellenton and a brother, Claude Key, Aiken. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Andy Porter, son-in-law, Randy Widener and a sister, Mary Key. The funeral service will be held Thursday at 3:00 PM at Talatha Baptist Church with The Rev.'s Kevin Carter and David Little officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Billy Key, Cory Ford, Denny Weeks, Stanley Porter, Ron Myers, Kevin VanRiper, Phillip Weeks and William Maguire. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Friendship Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home. The family offers their special thanks to Liberty Health Care & Hospice for their caring and compassionate aid.
