Helen Boatwright Barksdale Pendel

AIKEN - Mrs. Helen Virginia Boatwright Pendel, 86, died Friday, May 21, 2010. Mrs. Pendel was born in Mobile, Al, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Ollie Parnell Boatwright. She was a resident of Aiken since 1968 and was the former head receptionist at the Aiken County Complex. She attended St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, was a member of the VFW, the Knights of Columbus, and former Delegate for the Democratic party. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Ronald) Slovensky, Bluffton, SC; grandchildren, Lynn Wilson, Virginia Alarcon, Christina Moeller, Cynthia Alarcon, Priscilla Alarcon; four great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; a sister, Sharon (Phillip) Jager, Bronx, NY. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Pendel, and son, Christopher Pendel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Aiken SPCA, 401 Wire Rd., Aiken, SC 29801. Funeral services will be private.
