Sallie Carlton

AIKEN - Ms. Sallie Grice Carlton, 78, died Friday, May 21, 2010. A funeral service will be held at 6:00 PM Tuesday evening in the Shellhouse Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Heyward Horton officiating. The family will then receive friends until 8 PM. Interment will be held privately at Aiken Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Ryan Beter, Terry Bridges, Chandler Bridges, Fred Bridges, Dave Snipes and Marty Bryant Ms. Carlton was born in Aiken County, a daughter of the late James Geddings and Sally Evelyn Cushman Grice. She enjoyed her career as a bookkeeper in Slidell, LA before retiring to Caryville, TN with her daughter's family in 1995. She returned to Aiken two years ago to spend time with her sisters and brother. She is survived by her daughter, Betty (the late David) Beter, Caryville, TN; two sons, Jack (the late Patti) Carlton, Jr., Slidell, LA, Larry Edward Carlton, Slidell, LA; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Blanche Parrish, Aiken, Elizabeth (Fred) Bridges, Aiken; a brother, Hastings (Mary) Grice, Aiken. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Redd and a brother, David Grice.
