J. Carey Moore

Aiken SC – Mr. J. Carey Moore, 92, died Friday, May 28, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers. Internment will be held Sunday, May 30 at 1:00 PM at Aiken Memorial Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 at Aiken First Baptist Church, with the Rev., Dr. Fred Andrea, III officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Pallbearers will be Joe D. Lain, Brandon Lain, Scott Long, Steven Moore II, David Moore and Pedro Rosales. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Ed Cushman Sunday School class. Mr. Moore was born in Raleigh, NC, a son of the late James Edward and Bessie Stuart Moore. He moved to Aiken in 1966, and was Assistant Vice President of SC National Bank until his retirement. While living in Columbia he served as Treasurer of the Planning Committee for Riverbanks Zoo, and was also a member of Houndslake Country Club, Aiken Golf Club, and the SC Amateur Golf Association. He was a graduate of NC State, and served as a Sgt. in the Army during the European Campaign of WWII. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Aiken, and Ed Cushman’s Sunday School class. He was also a member of the Kiwanis Club. Mr. Moore is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Evelyn Carroll Moore; his two daughters, Susan (Joe) Lain, Mt. Pleasant, SC and Dianne Prioletti, Spartanburg, SC; his son Steven C. (Pam) Moore, Augusta GA; a brother, Thomas M. (Virginia) Moore, Charlotte, NC eight grandchildren, Brandon S. Lain, Sarah Prioletti, Anna Prioletti, Stephanie Long, Dayna Rosales, Steven Moore, II, David Moore, and Melissa Moore; five great grandchildren; Allison Lain, Christopher Long, Savannah Long, Veronica Moore, and Pedro Rosales. Three step grandchildren, Melissa Walker, Erin Orr, and Lindsay Williams; as well as eight step-great grandchildren. His brothers, James Moore, Randall Moore, and Horace Moore; and a granddaughter, Melanie Lain, preceded Mr. Moore in death. Mr. Moore loved the game of golf, having played from the age of 18, until he was 88. He was very proud of his two hole in ones and shooting below his age in his seventies.
