NEW ELLENTON, SC -- JOHN MARTIN KEY, 69 went home to be with the Lord, June 3, 2010 at Select Specialty Hospital in Augusta, GA.
John was born and lived his life in New Ellenton. He was a son of Mildred Hallman Key and the late Ollie M. Key. He was a pipe fitter by trade and worked with Local 150 at SRS until his retirement in 1998. John was a member of Talatha Baptist Church. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and was Past Master of New Ellenton Masonic Lodge # 389.
Survivors include his wife of almost 50 years, Shirley Young Key, a daughter, Wanda Key Smith, two sons; John M. "Marty" (Tamara) Key, Jr. and Russell Todd Heath, four grandchildren; Brandon Smith, Justin Smith, Haley Key and Colton Key, his mother, Mildred Key, a sister, Ann (Jim) Anderson and two brothers; Charles (Ann) Key and William (Mickey) Key, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday at Noon at Talatha Baptist Church, with The Rev.'s Bill Hannon, David Little and Kevin Carter officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until Noon Monday at the church.
