AIKEN, SC -- VIRGINIA TEITLE of Aiken, died Thursday, July 15, 2010 at Aiken Regional Medical Centers, after a short illness.
Mrs. Teitle, daughter of the late Andrew F. and Helena G. Bigelow Schwer, was born in Portland ME and grew up in Newton, MA. She attended college in Boston.
During the Korean War, she served with the U. S. Special Services program in Japan.
The Teitles lived in the Chigago area for 35 years before retiring to Aiken's Village at Woodside 6 years ago. Mrs. Teitle was retired chief executive officer of Moraine Girl Scout Council in Chicago's Northern suburbs.
She was active in numerous community and cultural activities in Aiken, including the Aiken County Historical Museum.
She is survived by her husband Elliott and two nieces.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, July 22, 2010 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home, with Chaplain Cathy Cole officiating. Interment will be private.
