CHESAPEAKE, VA -- HUGH MICHAEL SHANKER, 68, of Chesapeake, VA, died Wednesdsay, July 21, 2010 at Norfolk General Hospital, Norfolk, VA. Graveside services are Friday morning at 10:00 at Sons of Israel cemetery in Aiken, SC with Rabbi Robert Kleinsin officiating. Mike was born December 1, 1942 in Aiken, SC. He was the son of the late Sam and Minnie Efron Shanker. He served in the Navy and later worked for Pitney Bowles. Mike was married to Deanna Wyland. They have three children of whom he was very proud. He is survived by his son Phillip and his wife, Sharon and their two children Charles and Kayanna; a daughter Elena and her child Keaira; a son Jack and his wife Gema, and their son Jacob. He is also survived by his sister, Sondra Katzenstein and her husband Charles and a brother Howard. He leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins.
