Gwen Bailie Peck

AIKEN, SC -- MRS. GWEN B. PECK, 84, entered into rest on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at her residence. Born on May 21, 1926 in Puerto Rico, Mrs. Peck was a daughter of the late David and Elizabeth Neal Bailie. The Peck's lived 37 years of their lives in Goshan, IN. Gwen was a great homemaker and mother; she was also a substitute teacher and worked for the Indiana Unemployment Department. She graduated from Sophia Newcomb College, New Orleans, LA and was a member of Phi Nu Sorority. She was active in her sorority Tri Kappa and also in the Library Club. She was the Chairperson of the newly built YMCA, which was her pride and joy. The Pecks were charter members of Maple Crest Country Club where Gwen played golf and bridge and was on the traveling golf team which consisted of 12 private country clubs in Northern Indiana. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church. In the 70's thru 90's, before moving to Aiken, the Pecks were world travelers to all major countries except India. In 1992, they settled down in Aiken, where they are members of Houndslake Country Club and St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church. Mrs. Peck was survived by her husband of over 60 years, Harold "Hal" Peck, her sons James, Raleigh, NC and Richard, Indianapolis, IN and grandchildren; Kevin, Jeff, Ryan and Abby. A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 5, 2010 at 2:00 PM at St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church.
