Norma Abee Hedrick

July 6, 1921 — September 27, 2010

AIKEN, SC -- The memory of Norma Abee Hedrick will remain in the hearts of her loved ones after she joined her eternal friends and family on September 27, 2010. Norma was born in Hickory, NC on July 6, 1921, and was a daughter of the late Esley and Annie Mae Shook Abee. After moving to Aiken from Oak Ridge, Tennessee, in 1952 with her husband Joe, her son Joe, Jr., and her daughters Jeanne and Judy, Norma was employed with DuPont and was a dedicated employee as she worked hard in her position as head-nurse until her retirement in 1989. She touched many lives in her community as she was devoted to her family, church and career. She was a faithful servant as she nourished young men and women in their spiritual lives and led by example in her day to day display of solid ethics and morals. She loved her family and friends and gave of herself wholeheartedly even during the times that she needed to be carried. It was during those times that her love for her Lord kept her strong and steadfast. Norma’s family will miss their “Mommy” and “Nana” immensely, and her bright smile will be a treasure in the hearts of her friends. She is survived by her 2 daughters, 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and her brother, Keith Abee. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held from the graveside in Sunset Memory Gardens, Friday at 2:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be directed to God's Haven of Rest, 516 Clearwater Rd., Belvedere, SC 29841.
