Dorothy Smathers Hart

AIKEN, SC -- DOROTHY SMATHERS HART, 78, died Thursday, September 30, 2010, at her residence. Mrs. Hart was the daughter of the late Frank E. and Ethel George Smathers. She was born and lived most of her life in Spartanburg County. She is survived by three sisters; Betty J. McWilliams of Conyers, GA, Carol Bodie of Aiken; and Linda G. Ryan of Newport Beach, CA, two brothers; Jimmy L. Smathers and Donald L. Smathers, both of Aiken, and numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy loved the outdoors and when she was younger, she would take her siblings, and her nieces and nephews fishing in ponds, streams, and lakes around Spartanburg. She also loved spending time in her garden and was especially proud of her tomato plants. A Funeral Service will be held Sunday, October 3, at 2:00 PM at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home Chapel with The Rev. Reilly Hammond officiating.
