AIKEN - Mr. Thomas Robinson Loftin, 84, died Monday, October 4, 2010 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday at St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church with the Reverend Father Leslie Drake and the Reverend Father Scotty Nead officiating. Interment with US Military honors and Masonic Rites will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be the Potentate Guard of the Aiken Shrine Club. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Nobles of the Aiken Shrine Club. Mr. Loftin was born in Nashville TN, son of the late Robinson and Gertrude Loftin and loving husband to his loving wife Nell Moore Loftin. Prior to working for E.I. DuPont, he spent time in the Navy. He joined DuPont at Old Hickory, TN. In 1952 he transferred to E.I. DuPont at Savannah River as one of the startup workers. He retired with DuPont as a welding inspector with 37 years of service. When he first moved to Aiken he coached little league baseball and later he was a chauffeur for the Aiken and SC Junior Miss program. He was a member of St. Augustine Episcopal Church, Jamil Temple in Columbia and Aiken County Shrine Club where he served as a past president. He was a member of the Potentate Guard where he served a past director. He was also a member of the Road Runners where he transported many children to the Greenville Children’s Hospital. He was also a member of the Aiken Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Nell, 3 daughters, Sandra Blackwell of Martinez, GA, Carla Loftin of Aiken and Stephanie Kissiah (Johnnie) of Aiken and 1 son Wayne Loftin of North Augusta. His friend and brother-in-law Ralph Moore of Ridge Spring, 5 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren plus his special four legged feline daughter, Pretty Girl. The family has requested that friends send contributions to the Shriners Children’s Hospital, 950 W.
