AIKEN – Bobbie Young Hanvey passed into eternal rest on the morning of October 9th, 2010. Visitation will be held at Shellhouse Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, October 11th.
Following a private burial service at Aiken Memorial Gardens, family and friends are invited to a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at Aiken First Presbyterian Church with the Dr. David Cozad officiating. The family will then receive friends in the church parlor.
Bobbie Hanvey, 80, was born in, Greenwood, SC, a daughter of the late Robert P. and Emmie Lou Byrd Young. She has a degree in Education from Erskine College and advanced studies at the University of South Carolina and Winthrop, including two years of college level Bible study. She taught in the Lancaster, Greenville and Aiken County school systems.
Mrs. Hanvey enjoyed teaching women’s Bible study, singing and playing piano. A real “people” person, Bobbie dedicated her life to helping others. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed travel throughout the United States with her husband and friends. Additionally, she loved to play bridge and was associated with eight bridge clubs.
Mrs. Hanvey is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years Robert, a daughter Janis and her husband Michael Campbell and grandchildren Dylan and Sydney; a sister, Myra Stroud, of Greenwood; a brother, Cornelius Young, of Cheraw, SC
