AIKEN, SC -- WILLIAM "BILL" MOBLEY, 63, beloved husband of Sharon Schiestel Mobley, died Monday, October 18, 2010 at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC.
Born in Dunedin, FL, he was a son of the late Francis Chafee and Esther Hay Mobley. Bill served in the Army Reserves. He lived most of his life in Barnwell County and Aiken County. Bill was a commercial real estate broker. He was an avid golfer and was a former golf pro at Walterboro Golf Club and Blackville Golf Club. He was a full scholarship donor to the USC Gamecock Club. Bill organized the first Barnwell Festival on the Round. He was past president of the Barnwell County Gamecock Club. He managed the Joe Wyatt Memorial Junior Golf Tournament. Bill loved his family and Gamecock football.
Survivors, in addition to his wife Sharon, include two daughters; Mindy (Mark) Steedley, North Augusta, SC and Kristie (Scott) McCloskey, Simpsonville, SC, two grandchildren; Alex (Andrew) Oliver and Shaye McCloskey, three sisters; M. Peggy (Ken) Heinz, Columbia, SC, Mary (John) Jordan, Aiken and Lona M. Johnson, Hilton Head, SC, five nieces; Katie (Eric) Proctor, Aiken, Angie (Corey) Doolittle, Aiken, Stacey (Mark) Sacha, Hilton Head, April Johnson, Hilton Head, Marianne Heinz, Columbia and a nephew, Brent (Candice) Heinz, Columbia.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM at St. John's United Methodist Church with The Rev. Dr. George K. Howle officiating. Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Tom Young, Joe Lamb, Billy Bunn, Curly Douglas, Len Yaun, Butch Collie, Brent Heinz and John Thomas.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home.
