Aiken, SC – Richard Alan “Rick” Wells , 61, beloved husband of Beverly S. Wells, died Thursday,October 28,2010. Richard was born in Knoxville, TN, he was a son of the late Harold and Ruth Wells. Richard was a resident of Aiken for 30 years,he had a Masters of Art in Management from Webster College, he was a US Air Force Master Sgt. Veteran of Vietnam and Desert Storm, and was employed with Aiken Technical College as a Administrator and Senior Faculty member, he also helped start and coached both the Carolina Intruders traveling softball team as well as ATC softball team,he received Administrator of the year two times at ATC and Softball coach of the year for 2006 and 2007. He was also a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church. Survivors, in addition to his wife Beverly S. Wells, include one daughter; Dr. Allyson (Christopher) Speaks, Atlanta, Ga, and two brothers;Thomas Marvin (Martha) Wells and David Harold Wells both of Knoxville, TN.,mother in-law; Annie S. Strickland, Ruffin, SC, brother in-law; James E. (Elaine) Strickland Jr., Woodstock,Ga, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday October 31 at 1:30 PM at Aiken First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Fred Andrea III and Rev. Keith Stewart Officiating. Pallbearers will be: Jerry King, Dale Hunt, John Cumbee, Paul Fitch, Dennis Rogers and A.J Mantone. Interment will follow in Historic Bethany cemetery with full Military honors. Memorials may be directed to Aiken Technical College Foundation for “Rick Wells”, P.O Box 696, Aiken ,SC 29802.
