AIKEN, SC -- LEE A. SECHEL, 75, beloved husband of Pauline Gainok Sechel, died Monday, November 8, 2010 at MCG Hospital in Augusta, GA. Born in Chicago in 1935, Lee was a son of the late Vaslie L. and Sofia Katie Sasz Scehel. He grew up ihnj Akron, OH and attended Ohio State University. After college, he worked in construction and at Thew Shovel Lorain in Lorain, OH. In 1966 he went to work as a draftsman for FMC in San Jose, CA, working on the Bradley Fighting Vehicle, M113 and XM723 for turret components and 7.62C machine guns. In 1985 he accepted a mechanical engineering position in Aiken for 3 years. He also worked in York, PA with the same company, now called BAE. Lee and his wife retired in Aiken to continue to raise and show American Quarter Horses...his first love. He loved his farm and tractors...especially his little Ford N9. Survivors, in addition to Pauline, his wife of 45 years, include a two daughters; Sherrie Yurick and Candy Semonin, a son, Randy Sechel Abel, five grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Dorothy Sechel, a niece, Debra Polney and a nephew, Daniel Sechel, Jr.. Lee was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Daniel. A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Shellhouse - Rivers Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service.
